- Local League Guidelines
- Game of Throws Leagues can be setup by any current PDGA member. We recommend that League Directors have some event organizing experience, but we also encourage first time directors with a passion for the sport and regular involvement with their local disc golf club. League directors must pass the PDGA Official’s Exam and register their league prior to September 7th.
- Leagues are to be held at the same day, time, and location, once a week during the course of the series September 7th through October 19th. We ask that GoT Leagues use the same course layout every week, and if circumstances require changing courses or layouts the League Director must request an exception.
- Anyone can play in a Game of Throws League – PDGA membership is not required, and the format has been designed so that players of any ability level can contribute points to their House.
- Leagues can have a maximum of 32 players, and while there is no minimum player requirement, at least 12 players are recommended for the league to run as designed.
- Player Registration Opens June 15th and will remain open through the duration of the League. The Player Registration Fee is $45, and includes 6-weeks of PDGA sanctioned league play, a Premium Player’s Pack – with a custom Game of Throws Disc and House Jersey.
- The first 6 weeks of play will be in the standard PDGA singles format, with players earning points based on their place within their division.
- The Players with the 4 best scores in the first round of play will have the option to become Lords of one of the 4 Houses – House Lizotte, House McMahon, House Perkins, or House Piironen, and the Lords will then draft the remaining players into the 4 Houses. (see Sect. 3, Draft Guidelines for more info)
- The Knight Rule: Each week, Lords may Knight one of their players and that player will receive double points for that round. The Lord must notify the League Director of their selection before the round begins each week, and players can be Knighted only once during the Game of Throws League Series.
- The Match Play Finale in Week 7 will feature the top five players from each team, selected by the Lord, and will be worth twice as many overall points as each of the singles rounds from Weeks 1-6.
- Divisions and Ratings Guidelines
- Divisions will be ratings-based. There will be no age or gender-protected divisions, so players will enter mixed Professional or Amateur divisions based solely on the ratings guidelines.
- Mixed Professional and Amateur Division Ratings Guidelines:
- MPO = Players 970+
- MA1 = Players 935+
- MA2 = Players 900+
- MA3 = Players 850+
- MA4 = Players <850
- Players who have a current PDGA rating should enter the division based on their rating at the time of registration.
- Players who do not have a current PDGA rating will be assigned to a division by the League Director. If any of the 4 Lords disagree with a non-rated player’s division assignment, they may bring it up for a vote among the 4 Lords and the League Director. If the League Director is also a Lord, then they will get two votes. All questions concerning players and their divisions must be settled before the House Roster Draft may begin.
- Any proven instances of sandbagging or deliberate division manipulation for competitive advantage may result in disqualification from the event.
- House Roster Draft Guidelines
- Players with the four best scores from round 1 will have the option to become a Lord. Ties should be settled immediately following round 1 by way of a playoff.
- If any player declines to become a Lord after posting a top-4 score in round 1, then they will return to the draft pool, but cannot be drafted until the 2nd round of the draft. The player with the next-best score will then be given the option to become a Lord.
- The four Lords will begin the House Roster Draft following round 1, and after any questions about player divisions have been settled (see section 2, Division Guidelines).
- Beginning with the Lord who had the best score in round 1, each Lord will choose a House, and then make their first roster selection.
- The draft will follow a “snake” pattern with the 4th and 5th selection going to the same Lord, as in the following: A,B,C,D,D,C,B,A,A,B,C,D…etc. until every player from the field has been drafted.
- New players will be drafted into Houses each week, beginning with the team with the least points, and then proceeding in order of points with the first-place team picking last. Late round drafts will also follow the “snake” pattern, so that the last team to pick will get two picks in a row.
- Virtual House Championship Guidelines
- Every Game of Throws League Round will be entered into the Virtual House Championships based on the unofficial PDGA Round Rating.
- Players will earn points for their team by placing above other players in their division from leagues across the U.S. and around the world.
- The local team that wins the most virtual points, and also wins their local GoT league, will be declared winner of the Global Event.
- Prizes and Awards
- Each player in a winning House from every Local League will receive a $100 store credit at Discmania.net. Winners from leagues with less than 12 players will each receive a $50 store credit.
- Disclaimers
- Discmania retains the right to make changes to the event structure, format, and prizes, up to the beginning of the League Series on September 7th. Any changes will be publicly announced, and League Directors and Players will be given an opportunity to withdraw with a full refund until the close of the registration period.
